Seattle-based coffeehouse chain known for its signature roasts, light bites and WiFi availability.
Our story begins in Seattle 's historic Pike Place Market in 1971, where we first opened a Starbucks store that's known for its freshly roasted beans, tea, and herbs. Our name was inspired by Moby-Dick, a classic story that reflects on seafaring traditions. A young man named Howard Schultz would walk into these doors and fall in love with coffee from that first sip. After starting at Starbucks in 1982, a road paved with cobblestones would take him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy 's coffeehouses, and he returned home inspired by their coffee and warmth, which stimulated the transition of the company from a coffeehouse to a coffee company. In 1987, we swapped out aprons for green ones and began serving as a full-fledged coffee company.
Fast & friendly out Starbucks Server was accommodating. Quite pleasant.
