Jonathan "Max" Davis, originally from upstate New York, honed his passion for wine working at notable establishments such as Chez Panisse in Berkeley and Five Points Restaurant in NYC. As the Wine Director at Smith & Vine in Brooklyn, he curated a Eurocentric wine program with a focus on traditional and natural producers. He joined forces with Daniel Schmidt, a former public school educator turned wine industry professional, to open OAKLAND YARD in 2016. Daniel brings with him a wealth of experience from roles in wine production and vineyard management, and together they curated a passionate and knowledgeable team to run the store.
OAKLAND YARD offers an impressive selection of classic, small-production wines as well as a wide variety of minimum intervention and natural wines. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff, led by owners and winemakers with experience from renowned establishments such as Chez Panisse, are available to assist with your selection and answer any questions.
